Hi there! Today, I want to share some tips that have worked for me to keep flowers fresh for longer. As a floral devotee, there's nothing more satisfying than enjoying a vibrant, lively bouquet at home. So, here are some tricks you can apply to prolong your flowers' beauty.
1. Trim the stems when you receive your flowers
Whenever you receive a new bouquet from Le Rose Atelier, the first thing you should do is trim the stems at an angle. This helps the flowers absorb more water and stay hydrated. I also make sure to use sharp scissors to avoid damaging the stems. It's a small step that makes a big difference.
2. Change the water regularly
Fresh water is key to keeping flowers alive. I try to change it every two days, and I always clean the vase thoroughly before refilling it. Sometimes, I add a bit of bleach to prevent bacteria from growing in the water.
3. Remove submerged leaves
This is an essential trick: any leaves that fall below the waterline should be removed. If left in the water, they decompose and dirty the water, which speeds up the wilting process. So, make sure to remove them!
4. Place them in the right spot
I always ensure my flowers are in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight or drafts. Flowers, just like us, need a balanced environment to last longer. I also avoid placing them near fruit, as some emit ethylene, which accelerates the aging of flowers.
5. Check your flowers daily
Sometimes, a bouquet needs a little extra care. I like to check on the flowers daily to see if any are starting to wilt. If so, I remove them to prevent the rest from being affected. Also, if the water starts looking cloudy before it’s time to change it, I refresh it more frequently.
I hope these tips work as well for you as they do for me. Keeping flowers fresh is an art, and with a little love and attention, you can enjoy their beauty for much longer. If you have any other tricks that work for you, I’d love to hear them!
With Love,
Jennifer from Le Rose Atelier 🌸
